Before you start:

  • Rename the homework file and rename it to include the words "TurnIn".

    • This insures any changes I make on my end don't affect any work you did. Failure to rename the file may result in loss of data or a zero grade.

    • To rename the file, go to the Files menu, click the checkbox next to the assignment, then select Rename button. Rename the file to 'Chapter_4_Assignment_TurnIn.sagews'.

      • Do not change the extension on the file or your worksheet will not work.

General instructions

  • You may write your solution up by hand provided it is organized into the elements of the problem solving solution and is neat and easy to read. All steps must be explained in complete sentences. Computations must be done in SageMath.

  • The elements of the problem solving format are 1) Facts, 2) Lacking, 3) Approximations and Assumptions, 4) Representations, 5) Solve, and 6) Evaluate. You can write out steps 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6 by hand. You can write out step 5 by hand to set up the equations but you must solve the equations in SageMath.

  • Include explanations with all of your work. Do not write down a bunch of numbers and equations and expect anyone to understand you. You should include well-written sentences that describe what you are doing and why.

  • Remember, one of your peers will provide feedback on your assignments so make sure everything is clear to your fellow students.

  • Copying material is not allowed. You can work together but all work you turn in must be your own. Copying materials from another student or another resource is considered academic misconduct and may result in a zero score for the assignment as well as potentially being dropped from the course. Don't Copy

  • Play around with the worked examples. Make sure you understand what is going on.
