elliptic curves.
Lang, Tate: Principal homogeneous spaces over abelian varieties
Birch: Elliptic curves over Q: A progress report
Birch & SD: Elliptic curves and modular forms (in "Antwerp IV")
Swinnerton-Dyer: The Conjectures of Birch and Swinnerton-Dyer, and of Tate
Tate: The Arithmetic of Elliptic Curves
Tate: On the Conjectures of Birch and Swinnerton-Dyer
and a Geometric Analogue

• Question: That's great! One more thing: how do I find out which magazines they come from? and what date?
Answer: It's trivial if you have access to MathSciNet, and quite difficult otherwise. The URL for MathSciNet is http://e-math.ams.org/mathscinet You probably won't be able to access this URL from your home computer, unless you have a university dial up account, but you will definitely be able to access that URL from any university that has a significant number of math journals.
