\opening{Dear Hiring Committee:}

I wish to apply for a tenure or tenure-track position in mathematics.
My AMS cover sheet, curriculum vitae, research statement, and teaching
statement are enclosed. I have arranged for letters of recommendation
from Benedict Gross, Joe Harris, Hendrik Lenstra, Barry Mazur, and Ken
Ribet to be sent separately.

I am currently a Benjamin Peirce Assistant Professor at Harvard
University. My interests are in {\bf number theory} and {\bf
 scientific computation}. In particular, I study elliptic
curves, modular forms, and special values of $L$-functions,
especially from the viewpoint of explicit computation. In my
research, I have created modular forms algorithms, software, and
databases, and have developed methods for computing with modular forms
and abelian varieties, and applied my results to study the Birch
and Swinnerton-Dyer conjecture.
%My research is closest to that of ...

My eight years of teaching experience has ranged from freshman to
my research.

I am very committed to pursuing a research career in academia, and
look forward to hearing from you regarding my application. If you have
any further questions, please send email to {\tt was@math.harvard.edu}
or call me at 617-308-0144. Thank you for your time and
consideration.
